Week 5: Miami Turn up the Heat

Miami Heat vs Golden State Warriors:

Dwayne Wade sunk a buzzer beating 3-pointer to help the Heat to an emphatic away win in the American Airlines arena. Despite retiring at the end of the season Wade proved he has still plenty in the tank scoring 25 points off the bench. Klay Thompson led the scoring for the Warriors with 36 points and it looked like it would be enough to get them over the line before 37 year old Wade struck the winner.The win moves the Heat to tenth in the Eastern Conference while the loss makes little difference to the Warriors as they continue to perch on the throne at the top of the Western Conference. Sacramento Kings vs Milwaukee Bucks:

Capture.PNGBledsoe drops a 3-pointer

It took overtime to separate the Bucks and the Kings in Golder 1 Center this week. In an high-flying encounter it was the Bucks who reined supreme once again by the smallest of margins in a 141-140 victory. Bogdan Bogdanovic led the scoring with for the Kings with 26 points and almost grabbed them a much needed win, however the loss leaves them ninth in the Western Conference with the Lakers breathing down their necks. The King’s defence manged to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo to only 17 points but luckily for the Bucks Bledsoe and Brogdon stepped up grabbing 26 and 25 points respectively. LA Lakers vs New Orleans Pelicans:

Time is of the essence for the LA Lakers who have yet to grab a playoff place in the Western conference as they sit nervously in tenth place. The Penican’s playoff hopes diminished further as they sit in thirteenth position. It was Lebron James who once again led the scoring for the Lakers with 33 points while Julius Randle top-scored for the Pelicans with 35 points. It was the man of the moment Lebron who hit a last minute 3-pointer from the corner on one leg which sealed the game for the Lakers. Anthony Davis who was rumoured to move to the Lakers, didn’t look impressed.

Oklahoma Thunder vs Philadelphia 76ers:

With both team’s play-off position all but guaranteed but it was well known that these two teams don’t like each other, Joel Embid’s tackle on Russell Westbrook was a clear example. The last time the team’s met it was Oklahoma’s Paul George who hit a last gasp winner and unfortunately for the Thunder he missed the game due to injury. In a thrilling encounter it took JJ Redick’s last gasp free throws to seal it for the 76ers in Oklahoma. Tobhias Harris led the scoring for the 76ers with 35 points while Mr. triple-double himself Russell Westbrook led the way for the Thunder with 23 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds.
